Warmwell House Wedding

Situated amongst the rolling hills of Dorset (made famous in the novels of Thomas Hardy), Warmwell House is a true gem of a venue. Dating back to the 17th century, its Jacobean style architecture imbues it with a sense of history and grandeur that compliments any wedding day.

For their Warmwell House Wedding, Sarah & Will decided to both get ready on site - Sarah in the manor house itself, and Will at a separate house within the grounds. The manor house was the perfect spot for bridal prep, the lavish rooms combined with some lovely natural light coming through the windows allowed me to capture some great shots of Sarah and the bridal party getting ready. I chose to overlay parts of the priest’s ceremony address to start the film - quite often this is tricky as the priest will tend to stick too closely to scripture - but in this case the words seemed authentic and relevant enough to provide with a great opening to the film.

Holy Trinity Church, located on the grounds of Warmwell house, was the backdrop for the ceremony. A surprisingly large, bright and spacious church (fortunately so as Will is 6’8” tall!), I was able to get some great angles of both Sarah & Will as they exchanged their vows to one another.

The reception was held on the well-kept lawns of Warmwell House, which except for a short, unseasonal rain shower was the perfect location. Both Sarah & Will did speeches, allowing me to provide both narrative angles when selecting the audio clips to use. This always makes for a more balanced film from a story perspective, so my plea to all future brides is to do a speech themselves! They also both had some heartfelt words to say about one another, how they met and their excitement for their future together. Speeches like this make my job so much easier - they provide me with the perfect audio to overlay over the portrait session, and really further the emotional impact of the film.

To end this Warmwell House Wedding film I used some pre-recorded audio from the one and only Michael G Moore - Piano Animal - who perfromed the couples first dance on the wedding day. It seemed only right to use this music over the clips of Sarah & Will’s first dance, and it made the perfect segue way into the party.
