luxury wedding videography

‘Oh Mike - what a beautiful job you have truly done. Honestly, I’m speechless and a little damp eyed!!

A beautiful film, which I know we will enjoy watching again and again.’

A Luxury Wedding Video in Kent

Every now and again a wedding comes along that just absolutely blows your socks off, and Megan & Hugo’s luxury wedding in Kent was one of those special days. From the immaculate styling, mind-blowing florals, superb weather, amazing couple - everything about the day seemed to be completely on-point, and it all collaborated together to ensure it was a day that will last long in the memory.

To begin this Luxury Wedding Video, it was important to select an audio snippet that encapsulated Megan & Hugo’s sentiments, without giving too much about the rest of the day away. A short piece from the priests address was perfect - not only was it eloquently delivered, but it also spoke (in the couple’s words) about what a wedding day is all about, namely love. It made sense to overlay some of the footage from the couples portrait session from later in the day - matching the visuals to the audio in this way hopefully deepens the emotional impact of the film, without seeming to be too much out of chronological order.

After the intro section of this luxury Wedding Video, I decided to show some footage of the amazing florals (by the talented Lucy Vail) - this amazing artistry may well be the most impressive floral arrangements I’ve seen at a wedding - I just hope the footage I captured does it justice. Next, it made sense structure-wise to segue into bridal prep. Megan got ready at home, surrounded by her family and bridal party, and it was clear how important family was to her. Her father made a great speech later in the evening, and some snippets of him talking about is daughter made the perfect visual accompaniment to the bridal prep footage.

He also made some lovely comments about the wedding guests, stressing their importance to the day and to Megan & Hugo. This gave me the perfect audio to pair with the clips of the guests arriving at the church for the ceremony - sometimes it can be tricky to find narrative audio that fits with these ‘transition’ parts of the wedding day, but in this case I think it works perfectly.

The ceremony

St Bernards Church in Lingfield was the venue for the ceremony - a bright, airy church that provided plenty of space for me to operate. Once again beautiful floral arrangements lined the aisle, and Megan arrived in a regal-looking vintage Rolls-Royce, before the happy couple exchanged vows in front of their nearest and dearest. I again used some of the priests address to the congregation as narrative audio - there was something particularly sincere and heartfelt about the words he spoke, something all the more special as he has enjoyed a close relationship with Megan’s family for many years. Overlaying his words about love with footage of Megan & Hugo enjoying the golden hour light together made perfect sense.

When choosing an ending for this Luxury Wedding Video, I was looking for something that tied together all the narrative pieces from throughout the rest of the film. Megan’s father’s speech once again provided the answer - giving his daughter and his new son-in-law some words of wisdom, before toasting the newly wed couple - a perfect ending.

Providing Luxury Wedding Videography is something I truly love to do - hopefully this post has given some insights into my creative process and the thinking behind structuring my films in a way that both reflects the day itself in an authentic way, and also provides an emotional journey along the way. A big thank you to Susie Evans for planning and putting together such a wonderful and memorable day.
