St Audries Wedding
‘We both absolutely love the wedding video, it's so great to relive the day again and you really captured amazing moments! So thank you again for your fantastic work!’
A St Audries Wedding
St. Audries Park, a majestic estate nestled in the heart of Somerset, England, boasts a rich history dating back to the 11th century. Originally a hunting lodge for the royalty, it evolved over the centuries into a stunning country house surrounded by 100 acres of picturesque grounds. The estate's architectural splendour showcases a blend of Victorian and Georgian influences, with the main house featuring intricate detailing and elegant interiors that transport visitors to a bygone era.
The expansive grounds of St. Audries Park provide a captivating backdrop for any event, especially weddings. Manicured gardens, serene lakes, and charming woodlands create a romantic ambiance, making it an ideal setting for ceremonies and receptions. The historic Orangery, a distinctive glass building, offers panoramic views of the estate and is a popular choice for ceremonies.
The allure of a St Audries Wedding extends beyond its aesthetic appeal, as the venue offers a seamless blend of tradition and modern amenities. With its timeless charm, stunning architecture, and idyllic surroundings, a St. Audries wedding will stand as a testament to timeless romance, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a fairy-tale wedding in a historic and enchanting setting.
The Film
With many of my films, I tend to build anticipation at the beginning by not showing the bride and groom together, and by not including audio from the ceremony or vows that early. However, in the case of this St Audries Wedding, I did the opposite! Tom’s personalised vows were so well-written, and his delivery was so emotional (who doesn’t love a crying groom!) that I knew it would make the perfect opening for the film of what would turn out to be a very emotional and joyful wedding day. Ellyn too had written some poetic words about her new husband, allowing me to include words from both, and thus making this section well balanced from a storytelling perspective.
The photogapher (Joanna Nicole) and I also got some amazing sunset portraits of ellyn & Tom - the golden hour light really was magical and the footage I was able to capture was so good that I felt it had to be included as early into the film as possible. The audio from the emotional vows combined perfectly with the beautiful sunset shots to make the perfect intro.
Sentiments of love
Speaking of emotion, I’m hard pressed to think of a father of the bride speech that was more sentimental in nature than Ellyn’s dad’s. In tears from pretty much the first words, I knew instantly on the day that his speech would make great narrative audio. Combined with the bridal prep footage, these words continue the emotional story of the film and make for a great transition to the ceremony itself.
The ceremony of this St Audries Wedding happened in the Orangery, a beautiful glass house built in the Victorian style. Surrounded by the natural greenery, and with lots of lovely natural light streaming through the glass, it was the perfect setting for Ellyn & Tom to exchange their vows.
The REception
The glorious summer sunshine made the lawns the perfect spot to hold the drinks reception, and I was able to capture lots of lovely shots of the guests enjoying themselves and playing various games. The large, ornate windows of St Audries also gave me the opportunity to capture lots of interesting footage using reflections - a simple technique that always adds extra layers of intrigue and depth to a film. A couple of cracking speeches from both Ellyn & Tom once again gave me excellent narrative audio to put over this section of the film, continuing the narrative arc. The guests clapping and cheering at the end of the speeches provided the perfect segue into the first dance and the party footage.
To finish up the film, I wanted to use some audio that really hammered home the deep, genuine feeling of love that was so clearly evident on the day. Once again, the father of the bride speech gave me what I needed - an emotional send off to the bride and groom that gives the perfect ending to the film.
If you enjoyed this wedding, you’ll love Georgie & Alex’s big day in Surrey.
